2020 has kept healthcare reimbursement on its toes, and with 9 days of the year remaining, one thing we can count on is more change.
The stimulus bill that Congress signed yesterday, Dec. 21, 2020 Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, includes health care provisions that change policy in the 2021 Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule, released Dec. 2, 2020.
A moratorium on payment under the Medicare physician fee schedule of the add on code for inherently complex evaluation and management visits (HCPCS code G2211) until at least January 2024.
The funds allocated to primary care and medical specialties for G2211 will now be included in the addition funding to support a 3.75% increase to the 2021 conversion factor.
RVUs for office/outpatient E&M codes will remain at the increased level that CMS published for 2021.
We are still reviewing the 5593 page document, we will keep you posted on the rest of the changes coming soon.
